How to Throw the Perfect Girls Night Out

advice for young women

Girls’ night out is essential to your life. We all need to let loose every once in a while and forget about the pressures of jobs, men in our lives and other social commitments. Girls Night Out may not happen that often, but when it does it can uplift your spirit and renew the super important bond you have with the women in your life. Your friends are the ones that keep you grounded. They know who you really are: the good, the bad, the ugly, and the crazy. They’ve been there for your ups and downs. I love girls only outings and I’ve photographed a couple of ours as you can see for example here, here, here, here and here.img_9563

Interaction through social media does not give you the same level of bonding as in person does. You need the real human contact to release mood-elevating oxytocin and some studies have even concluded that having close friendships decreases your risk of death. Stay in touch with your girlfriends regularly for amazing health benefits (Harvard University Nurses’ Health Study).

Having a theme for your outing makes it a little more exciting (we’ve done a bunch of color themed picnics) and browsing through Pinterest will give you tons of ideas from different theme options, how to build a DIY photo booth, to cocktails to what food to serve. Here’s a couple of ideas what to do on your Girls Night Out:

80’s Night

Bring out your best 80’s look by crimping your hair, wearing leotards, blue eye shadow and leg warmers while watching your favorite 80’s movies and singing 80’s inspired karaoke.

DIY Spa Product Night

Ask all the ladies to bring one ingredient like sugar, sea salt, essential oils, glass jars, carrier oils or whatever ingredients you need to make the products you’re planning on creating. Everyone will take home their own 100% natural creation.903156_10151410968888310_866679913_o

Freezer Cook up

Girls Night Out that’s also extremely helpful in real life? Yes, it’s possible. Make a meal plan for the week, create a shopping list and give everyone items to buy and bring with them. Serve some vino while chopping, chit chatting, sautéing, boiling, baking and packing your meals in freezer bags. Everyone leaves with food enough for the entire week.

Wine tasting

Have your ladies bring one or two bottles of wine each from a specific wine region (California, France, Germany, Australia etc.). While tasting, read the taste notes and ask everyone describe what it tastes like to them. Serve grapes, crackers, apple slices and vegan cheese on the side.922104_10151410968978310_1560182305_o

Groupon activity night

Buy some unusual activity that you haven’t tried before and create new memories with your girlfriends. This is bonding at its best! How about a Zombie Escape Room? Boxing class? Spartan Race? Paintball? Capoeira? Self-defense class? River rafting? Possibilities are endless. Check it out yourself HERE.

Cooking night

Choose a couple of easy recipes and cook together a meal to remember. Print out cute recipe cards everyone to take home to recreate the meal.

Makeover and Photo Shoot

Watch make-up tutorials on Youtube or use Map My Beauty app to choose and create looks that you would not normally go for. Have a photo shoot after so everyone can have a new, improved social media profile photo :).

Movie Night

Create a DIY popcorn station so everyone can make their own. Here’s some inspiration for you.964361_10151489904993310_1319123233_o

Learn a Choreography Night

Get your exercise on and learn the hottest moves at the same time. Pick a song you like and find a step-by-step tutorial for the choreography on Youtube. Learn the steps and when you get it going smooth enough, film it. Single Ladies is a fun one.

Game night

How often do we play games anymore? I’m not talking about the Candy Crush either. Playing games is so much fun, that’s why we did it so much as kids. Host a game night and play some of your old favorites like Truth or Dare, or try Game for Fame or Cards against Humanity.

Hope you like these ideas. Now connect with your friends and set a date to make it happen!964629_10151489904748310_1307521388_o

  1. I’m SO with the board games 😀 International board games that is, too!

I have another idea: If you have international friends, let everyone bring a dish, dress in traditional attire, and bring a board game!
