Upgraded Avocado Toast

Avocado toast has been the “it” item for a while now, and I’ve of course been all about it too, despite NOT being a big friend of avocado. For some reason my taste buds do not love avocado, but they tolerate it. I eat it more for the healthy fats and having variety in my diet, not for the culinary experience.

This is the reason why I’ve come up with different ways to dress up my avocado toast. Most of the time it involves sprinkling seaweed-sea salt mixture, nutritional yeast, lemon juice and hot sauce on top of the toast, but there are so many ways to change the experience.

Avocados are filled with easily absorbable protein, fiber, Omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamins C and E, Carotenoids, Selenium, Zinc and Phytosterols which makes them quite a nutritional powerhouses.

Up your avocado toast game by adding:

  • salsa
  • fresh tomatoes and basil (cherry or heirloom tomatoes are the best)
  • hot sauce and lemon (I love Louisiana hot sauce!)
  • strawberries and balsamic vinegar
  • corn salad and lime
  • cucumber and onion
  • bell pepper slices
  • pesto
  • grilled tempeh
  • vegan bacon bits
  • sauteed greens
  • sauerkraut or kimchi
