The other week I met up with Annabella at South Street Seaport. Despite the crowds of tourists, I still love this area. It reminds me of my first few months in New York City after I left the safety of Southampton behind and moved to Lower East Side to start the single city life not knowing what to expect. Luckily everything turned out great. Phew! On my days off I would always take a walk by the East River from my apartment on Delancey Street to South Street Seaport and go shopping, eat and just hang out by myself since I didn’t know anyone. Those were very scary but exciting times trying to get comfortable with everything.
The river breeze, the views of Brooklyn and the Brooklyn Bridge, sailing boats, cobblestone streets and the historic buildings make me feel good about living here. Beekman Beer Garden Beach Club was pretty empty and no wonder. My experience there a year ago was not the best. You can read about it here. It looks cute though and I love the location right by the water.
We decided to get something to eat and chose SUteiShi nearby which serves creative sushi in a very chic setting with views of the Brooklyn Bridge. Great place to catch up with friends you haven’t seen in a while since the noise level is very low and it’s also nicely dim and intimate for a date with special someone… Their sushi was so good! We shared a plate of Garden of Eden Rolls (sweet potato and taro tempura, avocado) and the Jade Roll (Banana Tempura, Campyo, Avocado and Sesame Seeds). Super delicious!
