Mindful driving with Kia Soul EV

*This post is sponsored by Kia Motors America; however all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.*

This might be a unique post for my long-time readers since I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned cars in my blog before. To celebrate the National Drive Electric Week, I was presented with the opportunity to team up with a car that matches perfectly my green philosophy, The Kia Soul EV, it being 100% electric and 100% gas free. That’s mindful driving to me!

As a child, growing up in Finland, I was taught to be eco-conscious from the get-go. We spent lots of time in school learning about recycling, food waste, cleaning up our neighborhood from trash, and took many trips to the nearby forests and reserves to learn about nature. At home we recycled, never threw food away and had strict energy waste policy (thanks to my dad, the “energy policeman”).

These good habits stuck with me through life and today I’m a very conscious shopper who recycles with passion, generates as little trash as possible, avoids plastics (I use reusable bags, glass bottles for drinks, bees wrap instead of cling wrap, pack my lunches in glassware), and buying anything that’s toxic, bad for the environment, single-use or wrapped in tons of plastic. Not forgetting to mention the biggest thing I’m doing for the planet: not eating meat. I’m proud to lead a sustainable lifestyle and thrive to do better each and every day. I also like to show my support to companies that are environmentally responsible.

Mindful driving Kia Soul EVI’ve always been naturally drawn to smaller cars that fit my green conscious style, and that’s why I like electric cars. Kia Soul EV is practical with 5 doors and room for 5 people, and can be recharged by plugging the car to a regular household outlet. For those of  you who may have concerns about running out of charge, fear not! Soul EV will take you about 90 miles on one single charge (average commute in the US is 13.6 miles). No range anxiety here! Here’s a note for savvy shoppers: Kia qualifies for a federal tax credit of up to $7,500 depending what state you live in.

Kia Soul EV is at the National Electric Drive Week in San Francisco (Pier 27) October 8th and 9th. If you are in the area, come and experience it for yourself. I’ll be there taking it for a little test drive (very exciting!). Click HERE for more info on this free event.
