Now that the temperatures are low it’s time to upgrade your smoothie game to fit the weather. Try adding warming spices like cinnamon, cardamon or even a dash of cayenne (great for releasing mucus, by the way). Instead of just plain water or milk, use herbal teas. You can also add superfoods like Maca or Bee Pollen to give you even greater energy and immune boost.
My Winter Green Smoothie tastes a little like chocolate peppermint candy, yet it’s filled with tons of goodness to keep your body fighting all those cold season bugs.
Winter Green Smoothie
2 cups almond/coconut/cashew milk
2 cups kale
1 small banana
1 tbsp raw cacao
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp peppermint oil (this is my favorite)
Combine all ingredients in a blender. Blend until very smooth, beginning on low and slowly increasing the speed to high. Serve immediately or store in the fridge for up to 48 hrs.
