Your food philosophy
My food philosophy has evolved over the years and I’ve tried everything from gluten free, to vegan, to Paleo, to deep cleanses. It’s been a journey of a wide range of diets with varying beliefs, but I was always searching for what felt right for my body and my soul.
When I learned to listen to my body, really listen, that’s when things changed for me. My philosophy now is “just do what feels good for you!”. Currently for me that means mostly a plant based diet with the exception of eggs and seafood once in awhile. I also limit my dairy and gluten consumption.
Breakfast is my least favorite meal of the day. I prefer to drink a lot of water (warm water with lemon) first thing in the morning and then enjoy a nice cup of Dandy Blend (seriously obsessed with it and such a great coffee alternative) before I eat. When I start to get hungry, about 2 hours after I wake up, I make a simple breakfast. Scrambled eggs with sliced avocado drizzled with olive oil, salt and lemon is my go to and fave!
I absolutely love mornings and my routine. I naturally wake up at about 6:30am. Some mornings I ease into the day with meditation and yoga. Other mornings I hop on the treadmill and power walk. After a bit of exercise and/or meditation, I enjoy a nice cup of Dandy Blend while journaling for at least 30 minutes. Check out these 108 journaling prompts.
My morning routine is constantly evolving. I’m a firm believer of listening to my body and what she needs. Different seasons and stages in life, sometimes require different needs for my soul and body so I may switch it up a bit. Regardless, the first two hours of my day are always devoted to me!
Go-to juice or smoothie
I just kind of throw everything in the blender – some greens, frozen berries, a banana, almond milk, any other veggies or fruit that I have, and a scoop of PlantFusion Protein Powder.
What supplements do you take if any
The most consistent supplement is protein powder. (I’ve always tried and failed here. I’d actually love some tips from you, Kat! Lol. )
Your favorite kitchen tool
I don’t know if this counts, but it’s my Berkey. I seriously love having purified, fluoride free water!
5 pantry staples
Coconut oil, Quinoa, Apple Cider Vinegar, Lemons (always lots of lemons) and Olive Oil.
Favorite thing to cook for friends and family
I’m all about keeping it simple and I love throwing together a big salad for my dinner guests. Many of my meat eating friends don’t understand what I eat! Lol. So creating something There’s so many options out there.
My go to is a kale salad, with bread crumbs, parmesan cheese, and a homemade dressing consisting of olive oil, lemon, garlic and pepper flakes. It’s the simplest thing to make, but so delicious! I’ve been known to lick the bowl before and so have some of my guests!
Favorite way to workout
I love mixing it up, but Vinyasa yoga, dancing, and walks on the beach are my fave!
Strange wellness habit
I think the strangest one is oil pulling. I’m sure there are many others, but that’s the one that comes to mind as pretty freakin strange!
Favorite thing to wear
I’m all about cozy and comfy – yoga pants, a tank top, kimono, and Birkenstocks are my go to and what I feel the best in.
Favorite place you’ve traveled to
Ubud, Bali is my all time favorite and I consider it my second home. It’s such a magical place filled healthy cafe’s, a plethora of yoga studios, and rad down to earth humans. Feel free to hit me up for any tips if you’re planning a trip there!
Where would you like to travel
I’m craving an extended European adventure – Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal all come to mind.
Your favorite healthy place in your city?
There’s this little cafe in Pacifica, CA called Beach Monkey. Their acai bowls are simply divine! It’s a great place to work during the day or meet with clients.
What are your plans, hopes and dreams for the future?
Oh, there’s so many! Where do I start? With FLY Living, it’s to launch an online course which is in the works and I’m hoping to launch it in April 2017. In my personal life, I’d really like to settle down and buy a home. This is a big step for my gypsy soul, but I’m craving a home to call my own. The one dilemma is where. My boyfriend and I bought a trailer so we can travel the states with our pups and see if we find a place we want to land. If not, it’ll be an epic adventure!
One piece of life advice you’d like to give to our readers
Just do you. From food, to life decisions, to chasing your dreams – learn to listen to your intuition (and body) and do what feels right to you. You’ll always know what’s best for you. Sometimes it’s just about learning to listen.
