HEALTHY TRAVEL TIPS

When foodies travel it can get pretty expensive, hence I felt the need to create a little post revealing my healthy travel tips. Eating out breakfast, lunch and dinner plus little snacks and treats here and there can leave a big hole in your wallet. Therefore we decided to get little smarter with our spending on our last trip to San Francisco.

The very first morning after arriving we headed out to Whole Foods to fill our refrigerator with healthy snacks, breakfast items and a large container of spring water. There were carrot sticks, apples, almond butter, rice cakes, hummus, gluten-free crackers, raw vegan sprouted “pizza” crackers (yum!), chia squeeze, kimchi, raw vegan cashew cheese for the crackers, pumpkin seeds as well as little sweet treat in the form of raw hemp truffles (yum!!!). These were all my picks for the week, hubs had his own stuff. Although he snacked on mine too, coz my stuff was more interesting. 🙂

Living Raw Hippie hemp truffles
These were so good yet super rich that I couldn’t eat the whole bag in one sitting (something I tend to do). Ingredients: Organic Cacao powder, Organic coconut oil, Organic cacao butter, Organic Agave, Organic Cacao Nibs, Organic Vanilla and Celtic sea salt.
livin spoonful pizza crackers
This company has many other flavors of crackers, but since my favorite junk food is pizza I, of course, picked the pizza flavored ones. I slapped some hummus on top and called it a day.  Ingredients: Organic Sunflower Seeds, Organic Carrots, Organic Raisins, Organic Flax Seeds, Organic Onion, Organic Lemon Juice, Organic Dates, Organic Garlic, Organic Salt, Organic Oregano, Organic Fennel, Organic Thyme, Organic Jalapeno, Organic White Pepper.
easy living foods cashew smoked cheese
This was super yummy as well. I had it with the herb crackers for snacks throughout the day. It’s made from organic cashews, cultured with a broad spectrum probiotic and prebiotic and salt. They had 7 different flavors, but anything smoked is heaven to my taste buds. Ingredients: Cashews, Smoked Paprika, Mesquite, Pink Himalayan Salt & Live Cultures (Dairy-Free).
sinto gourmet kimchi
Since I suffer from very bad travel constipation every single time I fly, I knew I better have fermented foods on top of taking double dose of my probiotic supplements. Kimchi was my choice because it is just simply super tasty and delicious.

Another thing I do when traveling to an unknown place is to search for the closest juice bar as well as vegan restaurants. I use Happy Cow to find them and now Happy Cow even has an app!
