Self-Care Sunday : My Incredible Facemask

I love to have one day a week, usually a Sunday (so I can call it a “Self-Care Sunday”) when I care for my body and beauty by dyeing my hair with henna, do a body scrub, give myself a coconut oil head massage, fix my brows, and treat my face to a some kind of nourishing mask. A little while ago I got face masks for testing and I’d like to share my experience with The Incredible Facemask.

MayBeauty’s The Incredible Facemask is a mud mask, the main ingredient being deep sea mud. It is vegan and not tested on animals (two huge non-negotiables to me) and removes blackheads, oil, dead skin, and may even prevent acne. It also helps to shrink pores and makes your skin more even.

My skin is extremely oily with once a month blemishes, so I was hoping for the mask to remove some of that excess oil. I don’t even use moisturizer daily because my skin simply doesn’t seem to be needing it. It might be because I really hydrate myself well internally (lemon water, green smoothies, herbal teas first thing in the morning). Living in a mild weathered California and using gentle, all-natural facial cleansers might also have something to do with it.

The mask comes in a single use pouch and I’d recommend using some kind of brush for application. It can get quite messy otherwise. Avoid all hairy areas like eyebrows and baby hairs along your hairline because otherwise… ouch. I made that mistake the first time with my sideburns and that was not pleasant.

The mask took about 45 minutes to dry, so I peeled it as it dried, and left the non-dried parts longer. I did not experience any pain removing the mask, even though my mother and sister said it was painful. I guess they have hairier faces than I do :).

What I did before peeling it off was to move and twist my face in all directions and loosen the mask gently by doing it. While waiting for the mask to dry I read my book of the month and snuggled with the cats who did not notice anything weird about me. Well, they’ve grown very accustomed to my weirdness during our 12 years together, let’s put it that way.

You should see the best results after the 5th use, so I still have a way to go. I’ve done the mask just twice so far.

I’d like to offer you a 30% discount so you can add this wonderful mask to your self-care Sunday routines. To order, click here and use discount code ktkmask at check-out.
