My Zen Mornings

my zen morning catsI love zen morning time. Every morning when I wake up I feel like it’s a fresh beginning, a new opportunity to make things right. No matter how badly things sucked yesterday, in the morning they don’t count anymore. A good night’s sleep has erased all the negative things. I like to have rituals and mornings are no different. My mornings usually start with waking up these two, Miina and Moses with lots of kisses. When they were young they would always wake us up at odd hours of the night, so now they get woken up by tons of affection and love as a payback. Poor cats! 🙂
my zen mornings indian temple incense

I love Myrrh and Frankincense, but Indian Temple incense is also wonderful in the morning. I light one up, stretch a little, say my gratitudes and start my short meditation.

my zen mornings insight timerI normally use Insight Timer app on my phone, or if I need more specific kind of meditation, for example something to boost self-confidence, I pick one from Youtube. I love anything from Bexlife. She has a book coming out in February filled with 4-minute mantra meditations! I normally do just 4-5 minute meditation, because I cannot come up with excuses why I would not have time for that in the morning. If I didn’t have 5 minutes for me, then I have no life. So of course I always have 5 minutes.

Once my meditation is done, I use the bathroom and scrape my tongue and come back to bed to drink this 25 oz mason jar of purified water. I fill it at night before bed so I can hydrate properly before getting up.

Next I take my vitamins. I tend to change my supplement regimen every now and then but USANA’s Cellsentials stays. It’s the perfect combo of essential vitamins and minerals. You can get up to 20% off when ordering them through my store.

Then I heat up two glasses of water on the stove (I never use microwave). The first one I mix with lemon juice, turmeric, cinnamon and black pepper, and the second cup I make herbal tea, Yerba Mate or green tea.My favorite tea was mentioned on this post.

While I sip my tea I open my Passion Planner and go through my schedule for the day and the week, fix my to-do-list for the morning and afternoon, and then finally check my email and see if there’s anything that needs to be added to my to-do-list. I like my mornings quiet, slow and warm so I try my best not to rush anything. I prefer working out in the morning and usually have yoga or Bodyflow class at 9.30am or 10.30am. I ride my bicycle there while enjoying the morning sun and fresh air and getting my leg muscles warmed up.

After having these things done my day is off to a great start. I also drink green smoothies, either before exercise or right after. Some days I drink both before and after. The superwoman I am.

How do your mornings look like?

  1. Great post! Really enjoyed browsing through your blog! What proportions do you mix cinnamon, turmeric and lemon juice? What does it taste like? I imagine its super powerful and good for you, just not sure if I could do it daily! Thanks for sharing!

    1. Hi Lena! I add just a dash or two of cinnamon, maybe 4-5 dashes of powdered turmeric and about 1/2-1 lemon squeezed into a 10 oz of water (that’s the size of my mason jar I use to drink from). It tastes delicious! I think anything with cinnamon and lemon tastes good. You can also add a little raw honey if you need to sweeten it.

  2. Sulla on aivan mielettömän ihana blogi!!!!!! <3 <3 🙂

    1. Kiitos Mona ja tack detsamma! 🙂 XO
