For our first two nights in Los Angeles we stayed at Viceroy hotel in Santa Monica. It was definitely swankiest place I’ve stayed. With only eight floors we had to stay on the sixth because the top floor was extremely expensive penthouse suites and the seventh floor was entirely reserved for some royal family (we never found out which royal family). But we were quite happy with the view from our sixth floor junior suite as well.
Viceroy is truly a luxury hotel with a warm genuine service; very attentive and friendly. Location is spot on, one block from the beach, ten minute walk to downtown Santa Monica which has tons of stores, restaurants, bars and cafes. The hotel also has hip bar in the lobby area, as well as a restaurant that we used to order room service twice: the night we arrived we had some late night dinner (couple of vegetarian options as well, I had potato gnocchi) and our last morning we had breakfast (fresh pressed green juice!!!).
The pool area was gorgeous! We had breakfast there one morning and in the evening glasses of wine. Individual cabanas, sun loungers, two pools, palm trees, lanterns, and heat lamps. What more can you ask for. It would’ve been the perfect place to hang out with some new California friends, but as I mentioned earlier, June gloom kind of ruined all that for us…
Our room was good size with separate living area and french balcony. The shower was huge!
To describe our experience with Viceroy in one word: perfect. There’s not one negative thing to say about it.
