3 Delicious Warming Fall Drinks

Fall time makes me want to give our home a complete makeover and make it cozier by buying cute blankets, throw pillows, curtains, new rugs, candles and lots of incense (we love incense!). I also like to stock my pantry with hearty foods (lots and lots of soups, dried beans, lentils, sauces, preserves and so on) and get my favorite tea mug out because I’ll be drinking tons of tea (like I already don’t). Even I’m 100% summer person and very much dislike cold, there’s something magical about fall time. Cuddling under the blankets watching HGTV or Super Soul Sunday (or 80’s movies!) while sipping something warm. Here I’ve gathered some delicious, yet healthy warming fall drinks for you. What do you like to drink to stay warm and cozy?

3 Delicious Warming Fall Drinks

Homemade Hot Cocoa

(one serving):

1½ tbsp cocoa powder

2 tbsp coconut sugar

3 tbsp water

1 cup almond or coconut milk

vanilla extract

Combine cocoa powder (non-alkalized and the darker the better. This one is great!), coconut sugar, and water in a saucepan. Heat on low, constantly stirring so paste doesn’t stick. After 2 minutes, add in the almond/coconut milk and a small splash of vanilla extract. Mix well until warm, and enjoy!

You can add  a piece of your favorite dark chocolate for more sweetness, instant coffee for energy, cinnamon for a nice festive flavor or even a dash of cayenne for extra warming kick.img_3679

Cinnamon Mocha Coffee

4 servings

1/3 cup ground coffee

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1 cup almond milk

2 tbsp sugar

3 tbsp baking cocoa or cocoa powder

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional: 4 cinnamon sticks for garnish

In a coffeemaker basket, combine the coffee and cinnamon. Prepare 4 cups brewed coffee like you would normally. Meanwhile, combine the milk, sugar, cocoa and vanilla in a saucepan. Cook over low heat until small bubbles appear, stirring occasionally (do not boil). Pour hot milk mixture into four coffee cups, then add cinnamon-flavored coffee. Garnish with cinnamon sticks.

4 servings

3 tsp matcha green tea powder

2-3 tbsp coconut sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

3 cups almond milk

1/2 cup light coconut milk, hot

Over medium-low heat, warm the almond milk in a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Turn the heat off and add the sugar, vanilla and matcha green tea powder. Whisk until the matcha powder dissolves completely. Divide the mixture between two glasses and top each glass with hot coconut milk. Sprinkle some extra matcha powder on top. Enjoy warm!
