INSTAGRAM TRAVEL THURSDAY : MONTREAL

I’ve never really cared about the holidays and we usually don’t do anything extravagant like attend big parties and such. But last year, instead of just sitting at home again on a New Year’s eve, we decided to pack our bags and take a long drive to the closest foreign country. Canada that is. We were hit by the worst snow blizzard half way through, got a little lost at times, and arrived to Montreal around midnight, just a “couple” of hours late, only to notice that our apartment was not cleaned after the previous tenants. So we had to find a hotel and get a room for the night.

All and all Montreal was beautiful, romantic, but not very vegan-friendly. We are talking about taking another trip out there this winter. I’ll make my mission to find the best veg-friendly places.

  1. I LOVE Montreal, maybe because of its European feel… 🙂 Hope you get to go again this winter!

    1. Yes! That's exactly what I felt, the European influence. Loved it there. Would be nice to see it during summer as well, because it was just sooo cold!!!

  2. That bed is ah-mazing!

    1. I know! Amazing, but scary at the same…

  3. I've been to Montreal a few times and find it to be much more vegan friendly than Quebec City for example -That city has 0 vegan restaurant and 1 sort of open veggie place. Montreal's downtown doesn't have tons of vegan places but if you have a car or some other means of transportation you can explore a bit further for some nice vegan places 🙂 But it definitely takes some planning beforehand!

    1. Yes, for our next trip I really need to do my research on veg-friendly places. And since my husband usually wants seafood it's a bit complex. Seafood and vegetarian foods don't usually mix too well in the restaurant world…

  4. A ghost? That is spooky. What's the story on that.,

    1. Yup, I've always been the kind of kid that has these kind of encounters so I kind of felt it in the air as soon as we checked in. I blogged about the ghost story here: http://www.lifeissweetinnyc.com/2013/01/ghost-at-la-maison-pierre-du-calvet.html

  5. Omg that bed! Gorgeous!

I want to hear some ghost stories too!

  6. I also loved Montreal, although it was summer time. The hotel looked really fab! I would love to hear the story of the ghost also!!

    1. Yes, Pierre Du Calvet is known for their ghosts interacting with guests. My stoey can be found here: http://www.lifeissweetinnyc.com/2013/01/ghost-at-la-maison-pierre-du-calvet.html

  7. I've never been to Montreal but really want to go! I love Canada, so I'll have to check it out soon! Fun pictures!

    1. This was my first time in Canada and I really loved Montreal, even it was freezing the entire time. But hey, it's Canada in December so I didn't expect nothing less… 🙂

  8. I should really find my way to Montreal one day!!

    1. It's really pretty! I think we're going back again for New Years! Although I much more would like to go somewhere warm…
